The Media Thinks The Cubs Are Chicago's Only Team

The Chicago Cubs have the chance to snap a streak of 108 years without a World Series championship.  And apparently the national media has completely forgotten about the Chicago White Sox even being a team.

To start, CBS managed to not only mess up once...

But then they tried to correct themselves, and messed up the correction.

The White Sox were not only World Series champions in 2005, they were also American League champions in 1959.  In 1959, the White Sox lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 6 games in the World Series.

Then the Washington Post seemed to forget that the White Sox also snapped an 88 year drought when they won the World Series in 2005.  

In 2004, the Red Sox snapped an 86 year drought without a World Series title.   The following year, the White Sox one-upped them by snapping their own 88 year streak.  But yet the Washington Post seemed to overlook this fact.  This is probably due to the fact that Boston's failures and streak was more well known than the streak in Chicago.

Then comes my personal favorite - ESPN.  Unlike CBS and the Washington Post, ESPN is known for their sports coverage.  The "crown-jewel" of sports coverage.  They have entire research teams and statisticians pumping out information for their broadcasts.

ESPN can tell you exactly how many sliders left-handed hitters have hit for home runs at Wrigley Field with the wind blowing out to left between 5-10 miles an hour since 1908, but apparently they cannot figure out who has won championships since 1965.
