Can Liverpool win it all?

After four matches Liverpool has kept a 100% win record in the Premier League to put themselves in the first place, tied with Chelsea and Watford with 12 points. Although a good start doesn’t always mean a good finish, Liverpool has a strong team this year and a good chance of lifting their first Premier League title.

Liverpool’s defense has been really good this year, keeping 3 clean sheets and only allowing one 1 goal. This might be the differential that puts them on top of the competition. Just like Alex Ferguson once said: “attack wins you games, defense wins you titles”.

The Reds aren’t just getting it done on the defensive side as their attack is averaging more than 2 goals per game scoring nine goals in only four games. With an attack trio that will scare any opponent, a solid midfield and a lockdown defense Liverpool will look to maintain their perfect record.

A problem for Liverpool is going to be focusing in PL while competing in the Champions League. Many teams have a good start to a season but begin to fall apart when the CL begins. Managing to compete at a high level in both leagues might be tough for them, and they most likely are going to pick one to focus on.

Before Liverpool worries about how they’re going to manage that situation, they have to be fully prepared for the big match against Tottenham on Saturday the 15th. This is going to be Liverpool’s first real test to see if they have what it takes to make a run for the championship. Tottenham isn’t far away from The Reds, with only one win separating the two English giants.

In this summer’s transfer window Liverpool made some interesting new signings that could be the missing pieces from last years team. They managed to sing the Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson from Roma and Guinean midfielder Naby Keïta from RB Leipzig.

Key players performances so far and how they can help the team win:

Goalkeeper, Alisson: The shot-stopper from Brazil has had a good season so far managing to keep 3 clean sheets and only allowing one goal. So far he has proved he was worth it, and since the goalkeeper position is where Liverpool has struggled for many years and cost them some titles, Alisson could be a real game changer.

Forward, Mo Salah: Mohamed Salah came to the team last season also from Roma and since them, Liverpool’s fans fell in love with him. In his first season in England, he won the Premier League golden boot and is a contender for the Ballon d’Or. Salah is certainly going to play a big role in Liverpool’s season.

Center back, Van Dijk: The Dutchman has been playing really well alongside Dejan Lovren and helping goalkeeper Alisson keep the clean sheets. For as long as Van Dijk is healthy, Liverpool’s defense is going to be tough to crack. He is also a great leader who captains his own the Netherlands.

Liverpool is on the right track, and if they keep up this effort and manage to maintain this level of play in the Premier League once the Champions League starts on September 18th, their odds are really good.
