Panthers Late Goal Prevents Penguins Come Back

Evgenii Dadonov's goal (hat trick) with 1:53 remaining in regulation off a Pittsburgh Penguins turnover lifted the Florida Panthers to a 6-5 win on Saturday Night at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida.

Vincent Trocheck scored 3:44 into the game for the Florida Panthers. Carl Hagelin tied the game at one later in the first for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Dandonov scored with :39 seconds remaining in the first period.

Jamie MxGinn and Derek MacKenzie scored goals for the Panthers in the second period. Tristan Jarry was pulled for the Pittsburgh Penguins after giving his fourth goal and he made 12 saves for the Penguins. Matt Murray came into the game for the Penguins and he also made 12 saves.

Evgeni Malkin scored in the second-period for the Penguins. A Patric Hornqvist goal for the Penguins was overturned on a goaltender's interference challenge. Hornqvist was playing the puck and not the goalie's pad and the officials disagreed.

Malkin scored his second goal of the game :46 seconds into the third period. Around :58 seconds later, Evgenii Dandonov scored his second goal of the game for the Panthers. Patric Hornqvist scored a power-play goal with 5:39 remaining in regulation for Pittsburgh. Bryan Rust tied the game with 4:50 remaining in regulation for the Penguins.

Roberto Luongo made 32 saves for the Panthers. The Florida Panthers have won 9-out-of-12 games and the Pittsburgh Penguins six-game winning streak is snapped. The Pittsburgh Penguins won the season series against the Florida Panthers 2-1.
