I grew up in a sports savvy family and built a career analyzing numbers and identifying trends. This has led to a passionate, and perhaps somewhat obsessive, interest in following football. I am not sports writer...I am not even from New Orleans. But I am a fan and a diligent student. I play DVRed Saints games like it is background music. I rewatched that painful loss to Seattle in the playoffs last year...not once, not twice, but THREE times. I made it a requirement to drive by Drew Brees' house before every home game to pay homage.

There is something special about the New Orleans Saints fan base. It wasn't until I met my native New Orleanian husband that I became indoctrinated into Saints fanaticism, and accustomed to the rich and flavorful "roux" that is New Orleans. The Saints are New Orleans, and New Orleans is the Saints – they are inextricably linked.

So join me as we track the Saints all season long - not only steeping in the statistics and analysis, but also soaking in the cultural heritage from one of America's favorite cities.
