Mariners Daily 2/26

After defeating the Padres yesterday 13-3 as the away team, the M's and Padres flipped sides and today the Mariners were once again victorious, 13-2. Today the M's skipper Scott Servais featured more of the back ups and platoon players compared to yesterdays lineup which is most likely to be the opening day lineup. Chris Heston got the start today and pitched 2 innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just 1 hit an striking out 1. Cruz, the only regular to get the start, stole the show early, homering for a second time this Spring. One of the things that was impressive in this game was that the Mariners drew 14 walks. The M's made the Padres pitchers throw alot of pitches and showed great patience and plate vision. That's something we will need to keep an eye on this season, especially with some of the younger players like Vogelbach, Gamel, Haniger and Zunino who will need to have good plate appearances and will need to keep the strikeout rate low.
