Shelton Benjamin Returns to WWE

It has been rumored for over a year, but various injuries forced a delay in the potential return of for United States Champion Shelton Benjamin. It had been delayed so much, that fans were beginning to think it would never actually happen.

But Tuesday night on SmackDown Live, it happened.

Former SmackDown Tag Team Champion Chad Gable went in to talk to GM Daniel Bryan, and that's where it happened.

Bryan told Gable he had talked to Kurt Angle, RAW's GM, and said that Angle had helped him signed one of Angle's "old friends", and that this superstar could make a great new tag team partner for Cable. Bryan then announced the Superstar as Shelton Benjamin, and that the new team would get a test run next week on SmackDown Live (August 29.)

It will be very interesting to see how WWE books Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable going forward. It would be nice to see Shelton back in singles action, but this could be a great way to put Chad Gable over as well, so we'll see what happens.
