Week 5 NFL Predictions
Hello and welcome to week 5 of ‘An Englishman’s thoughts from across the pond’. Due to time constraints I am only uploading the Thursday night betting preview tonight. With any luck I will return to the full blog post next week…
Game predictions:
Overall record since week 1: 64%
IND@NE; 21-30: Tough road game for a Colts team especially given the history between the two franchises over the last 15 years or so. The Colts defense comes in as one of the most improved units in the NFL over the first four weeks, but that is likely to mean little when Tom Brady goes to work. Expect this game to be relatively close, but rarely if ever do the Patriots lose at Gillette Stadium.
X-factor: Colts Offense – With the defense keeping this team in game, Andrew Luck and company will be disappointed they haven’t started better than 1-3. This offense is vital to the Colts success and has so far not quite pulled its weight in crunch time.
TEN@BUF; 28-21: The Titans have quietly gone about their business so far this year, building from their playoff appearance a year ago. Although no-one should be surprised their strengths have come from their ground game and defense as Mariota has been working his way back from injury. This Buffalo team is certainly not the pushover it was at the start of the season, but they likely lack the weapons on offense to truly keep up in this one.
X-factor: Marcos Mariota – The former number two pick has not been quite at his best this season having already missed time due to injury. As he gets going this Titans team is going to be extremely difficult to stop.
