The Baby Bombers Growing Up Fast

Entering the 2017 baseball season the New York Yankees took the field with a roster toting an average age of under 28 years old, for the first time since 1992. The 2017 season was one of optimism and growth where we would see the pieces of the future grow into their full potential and hfully show bright spots of what the future would hold. -Scratch that- So far this season the future is now. One of the most promising prospects entering the season was outfielder Aaron Judge and he has not only lived up to expectations, but exceeded them thus far in the young season. As of today (though only mid may) Judge is batting .316 with 14 home runs 29 RBIs and an ops of 1.164. All of this in the absence of 2016 September call up sensation and other top prospect Gary Sanchez who is just returning from a DL stint. This was supposed to be the bridge season between growth and one of the most anticipated free agency periods in league history following the 2018 season including sluggers Bryce Harper and Manny Machado. Instead Yankee Stadium is full and optimism is in the air for these baby bombers who are giving people reason to believe that this hot start is sustainable and that these baby bomber prospects may be for real sooner than later.
