Chicago Bears WR Alshon Jeffery Suspended
As if things weren't bad enough for the 2-7 Chicago Bears, things just got worse as news broke that the Bears star wide receiver has been suspended by the NFL for the use of performance enhancing drugs. The suspension is for four games and will begin immediately.
In a statement released Monday afternoon, Jeffery blamed his PED violation on taking a supplement that contained an ingredient banned by the NFL's drug policy.
Jeffery is currently playing this year on the Bears franchise tag, worth $14.6 million. It's unclear how this will affect Jeffery's long-term status with the Bears or his leverage in negotiations with teams in the offseason.
