Carmelo Anthony has finally crumbled to the pressure the Knicks organization has put on him to waive his no-trade clause. He did not give them all the teams but did agree to being traded to either Houston Rockets or Cleveland Cavaliers. This is good news for the Knicks because they at least can get something back from a team, rather than just buying him out and have somewhat of a bidding war with 2 teams.

The tricky part is the salary as both the Cavs and Rockets are over the cap and would need to match Melo's $54 million left on the contract plus the $8.1 million he gets as part of a trade. Thats roughly $61 million and that is the tough part. For both teams that would most likely require a third team involved. The most easiest and obvious trade is Kevin Love for Melo as that works for both teams. The Cavs could not play all 3 fowards anyway between LeBron, Melo and Love plus Tristan Thompson, so trading Love would work. While the Rockets the easiest would be Anderson-Melo swap as both have similar contracts.

Either way it still would be tough to trade Melo as neither team can offer a 1st round pick or any young assets. So, the Knicks could stand pat and hope that Melo opens up his no-trade clause for more teams like the Celtics or Wizards or go quick and just move him for whatever you can get.
