Let the celebration begin. Phil Jackson had become the most hated GM/President in the league and most Knicks fans have been calling for his job for a while. Even at the draft you heard Fire Phil chants whenever the Knicks were picking. I guess James Dolan got tired of him as well and finally got rid of him. The irony is that he just picked up his contract, could have saved a lot of money if he let him go earlier plus by all reports it was Jackson that wanted Frank Ntilikina and if not for him the Knicks would have drafted Dennis Smith. A parting gift from Jackson. Those two guys will always been linked.

I am not going to bash Phil Jackson but he may have had the worst run as a GM/President in NBA history. Outside of the Porzingis pick, he has made move after after move to hurt this franchise from alienating free agents with the triangle, giving Noah a huge contract and pushing the triangle on Jeff Hornacek. His ego got in the way of the job.

It was a move that should have happened sooner but most Knick fans have to be thrilled that it finally happened. So what happens now? The Knicks don't have a plan with free agency about to start. Expect them to move quickly and hire a new GM maybe a David Griffin or Masai Ujiri from the Raptors. Also what happens to Melo will also be something to watch as he wants to stay and maybe with a new GM it may just happen.
