MLB Rumors: Dodgers re-sign Kenley Jansen?

Jon Durr-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Dodgers have made it their main focus to re-sign closer Kenley Jansen. In 2016 Jansen went 3-2 1.83 ERA in 71 games with 47 saves for the Dodgers. Considered one of the top closers in the MLB today. The Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals, and Dodgers are all trying to get Jansen for 2017 and beyond.

Jansen is the last top tier closer left available after Mark Melancon signed with the San Francisco Giants. Then Aroldis Chapman signed with the New York Yankees to a huge deal worth 85 million. Jansen is rumored to be offered at least 85 million if not more money.

I believe the Dodgers will be able to re-sign Jansen. He has a strong relationship with the Dodgers and the same could be said about Miami. The difference is the Dodgers are ready to win-now and without Jose Fernandez the direction of the Marlins is a bit fuzzy right now. The Nats don't seem like a serious contender for Jansen. It shouldn't be long before we see Jansen with the Dodgers again.
