Will Ian Desmond stay in Texas?

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Texas Rangers outfielder Ian Desmond hit .285 with 22 homeruns and 86 RBI in 156 games with the Rangers this season. It was his first season in Texas and could've been his last. Desmond could be looking to score a long term deal in free agency.

The Rangers could use Desmond's bat long term especially with slugger Prince Fielder retiring. The offensive bat of Desmond could be huge for the Rangers going forward in 2017 and on. Will Desmond actually agree to a long term deal without testing free agency?

That's where I'm not sure because Desmond could make a lot of money in free agency. While Desmond would likely consider re-signing with the Rangers. I believe he'll test free agency unless the Rangers offer something he can't turn down. Desmond will likely be looking for a long term deal that's worth nearly 100 million. I don't believe the Rangers will offer Desmond 100 million and he'll go to free agency this off-season.
