Two Big Questions: AFC East

BUFFALO BILLS

Who will lineup opposite Sammy Watkins? The Bills had the no.1 rushing attack in the NFL last season but had the third worst passing attack. The main reason is their TE Charles Clay was their leading receiver with 57 catches for 552 yards. Sammy Watkins sees double or bracketed coverage on passing downs which limits his production. They drafted WR Zay Jones in the second round who could be the answer.

Can the defense give the offense a short field? With only 18 takeaways a year ago the Bills offense was constantly having to go on long drives. Despite having the best rushing attack the Bills defense's lack of ability to end drives with turnovers led to them being on field longer and losing the time of possession battle.

MIAMI DOLPHINS

Can Ryan Tannehill be consistent? In Miami's eight wins Tannehill threw for over 1,800 yards and had 15 tds to just 4 ints. In the five losses he threw for just under 1,200 yards and had 4 tds to 8 ints. When he plays well the team wins and when he doesn't they lose. He has weapons and a solid defense. But the team's success rests in his consistency.

Can they stop the run? A team that has Ndamukong Suh in the middle of their d-line shouldn't be the third worst rushing defense in the league. However, that is exactly what the Dolphins are. Adding LB Raekwon McMillan in the second round should help the run defense.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Where is the power running game? Losing LeGarrette Blount is a huge deal for a team that loves to use play action and taking pressure off of an aging Tom Brady is always priority no.1. Mike Gillislee will more than likely be asked to assume the role Blount vacated but can he carry the load?

Can the defense repeat 2016? Finishing 3rd against the run, 12th against the pass, 8th overall, and 1st in scoring without a single pro bowl selection was remarkable. A repeat performance is mandatory to get back to the Super Bowl.

NEW YORK JETS

Josh McCown is their quarterback? This year's draft wasn't full of highly regarded quarterbacks and the Jets decided to pass on all of them. They didn't go out a sign a high profile guy in free agency and many people are wondering why. McCown is a veteran with the ability to win games but not enough games to get the Jets in the playoffs.

Can young secondary produce right away? The Jets secondary had a lot of problems last season. The biggest being giving up big plays. They gave up 13 plays over 40 yards and 52 plays over 20. They will need their first and second round picks, safeties Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye, to mature fast if they want to stay in ballgames.
