The Pittsburgh Pirates have been a contender in the NL Central the past several seasons and the fans have loved every minute of it. However, this year has been different as the team has been stumbling over and over and can't seem to put together a consistent string of success during the year, which could very well lead to the team missing out on the postseason.

Despite all of this and the team's consistent injuries, the Pirates have been giving fans a look at some of the young talent that has been tearing it up in the minor leagues.

Pittsburgh called up top pitching prospect Jameson Taillon recently and while he just went down with a shoulder injury, he was experiencing pretty good success in his first stint of big league action.

Then there's Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow is the latest top pitching prospect to be called up by the team and he will look to get some starts now that Taillon is down with injury. Glasnow was absolutely making Triple-A hitters look silly this season, running up an ERA just south of 2.00 and racking up the strikeouts along the way. His walk rate was a little troublesome, but that's a good bet to be improved as the year goes along.

Now we have today's call up. 1st Baseman Josh Bell. Bell is no doubt the Pirates top hitting prospect and he's been showing just why he is with his numbers this year in the minors(.942 OPS, .535 SLG%).

While its frustrating to see the team endure the struggles they have, look at the bright side Pirates fans, there's plenty of talent on its way in the near future. And that's without mentioning Austin Meadows.
