Indiana Hosts Michigan State

The Indiana Hoosiers open the conference portion of their schedule on Saturday night in Bloomington against #17 Michigan State Spartans. The Hoosiers are coming off a 33-28 loss to Wake Forest. The Hoosier offense managed 611 total yards, but continued to shoot themselves in the foot with untimely penalties, and five interceptions  Wake Forest turned the interceptions into 17 points.

Richard Lagow has to be better this week if the Hoosiers are to pull off an upset of the Spartans. Last week, he threw for 496 yards, and three touchdowns, but the turnovers were too much to for the Hoosiers. The Hoosier defense has been playing better this season, and will have to be at their best on Saturday night to stop Michigan State.  The Spartans are coming off a humbling 30-6 loss to the Wisconsin Badgers.  They are 2-1 on the season with wins over Furman and Notre Dame. The Notre Dame game was an impressive performance by the Spartans, but the Irish woes make that win not as impressive.

I look for this game to be close for three quarters with the Spartans pulling away at the end The Hoosiers haven't proved they can consistently win close games in the Kevin Wilson era. If you're a gambler look for the Spartans to cover the spread.
