There’s been some rumors spreading around the interwebs that are saying the San Antonio Spurs are looking to trade All-Star Forward LaMarcus Aldridge. These reports say that the Spurs are done with the Aldridge experiment, and have concluded that he is not what they are looking for in a leader for the team.

But on Thursday, Aldridge himself talked to Jim Rome on The Jim Rome Show and debunked the whole rumor. He said that he constantly talks to Head Coach Gregg Popovich, and the feedback has been positive. He added that Popovich is also continuously teaching him new things so that he can become a better leader. Per the show’s website:

“I didn’t buy into it. I haven’t heard anything about it,” Aldridge told Rome. “I talk to Pop [Head Coach Gregg Popovich] daily, and he always tells me I’m doing great and [I’m] trying to learn new things and trying to be more of a leader, and he’s putting me in positions where I can be more of a leader. So as long as the guys here aren’t saying bad things to me, and all my teammates have said nothing but great things to me. So as long as the guys in my family here aren’t saying bad things, then I’m fine.”

Aldridge added that he is happy playing in San Antonio, and he is glad to be a part of the family.

“We made history last year. They incorporated me into the family and tried to make me one of the big pieces,” he said. “I’m from Texas, I see my family, I’m winning, like of course I’m happy. That’s why I don’t buy into the rumors, and I feel like I do my job here, and I feel like I’ve done everything that they’ve asked. So that’s why I haven’t bought into the rumors.”
