The Next Big Bust!

I set here at my desk this morning pondering what could be going through Odell Beckham III head. He commented on a national sport radio show yesterday that he wasn't having fun playing professional football any longer. Then he tweets “If I ain't having fun with it I'm done with it” So is that your official retirement tweet? Welcome to today's millennial mentality… If it isn't fun I’ll just quit… You are getting paid 1.3 Million dollars this year to play football!! Trust me there are plenty of people who would give anything to be in your shoes right now. Here in lies the problem.. You have million dollar talent and ten dollar attitude. It's really very sad to have such tremendous talent just to be squandered away with such a piss poor attitude. Will you be the next professional athlete to blow an incredible opportunity due to lack of discipline?

Since the very first day you have entered the National Football league the stars aligned for you.. The catch on Monday night football against the Dallas Cowboys that brought your name and brand to national attention.. The subsequent run to the playoffs… the cards were dealt and you came up with aces… And that's where the wheels start to come off. Your celebrity gets the best of you and you start making an ass of yourself. First off the media is giving you all the attention you need then you start bad mouthing defenders and calling them out nationally??? What did you really think was gonna happen… You sir have a bounty on your head… Not monetarily but with something much bigger than money… A man's pride. How long did you really feel that you were gonna be able to poke that lion before it bit back? You have and continue to verbally attack your opponents at every snap and you are finding out very quickly you are not the only superb athlete on the field anymore..

What you need to do is study some of the true greats in the game that did it the right way. Jerry Rice, Emmit Smith, Barry Sanders, Larry Fitzgerald, These guys absolutely destroyed their opponents but did it with dignity and class. It's not in the rules that you have to be a schmuck to be a hall of famer… But that's ok if you want to be the bad boy and carry the persona like Michael Irving, Chris Carter, Randy Moss you can. Just be ready to handle the heat. The difference between them and you is they got back up and continued to fight!. They didn't let their piss poor attitude and entitlement get the best of them. If you're gonna poke at the lion be ready to wrestle it and don't just say “hey this isn't any fun I think I'll just quit”.. Unfortunately there are children all over this country that idolize you and you are sending a deafening message to them that it's ok to quit when things get tuff. That its ok to say hey this isn't fun don't want to do this.. It's time you put those pads on strap them up real tight and act like a man.. Life isn't always fun but a man continues to strive even when it's not fun… Even when it's hard…
