Premier League Bits: Round 8.

The Manchester City locomotive continues to chug along the tracks and running everything over in its path. Chelsea has yet to look the part of defending their title, after dropping three points to a Crystal Palace team that was coming off a record breaking run of futility. Arsenal Wenger has one more headache.

These are some of the headlines from Round 8.

Devils and Reds battle to another scoreless draw.

For the second consecutive year, Liverpool and Manchester United slogged through a scoreless draw at Anfield. Liverpool had the better attack, having 19 shots to Uniteds' six. There were no shots on target during the second half.

Manchester United goalkeeper; David de Gea, did have a great save by denying a Joel Matip attempt at close range with his foot. Romelu Lukaku failed to score for the first time in a Premier League match this season, but Liverpool keeper; Simon Mignolet, did make a good save on a Lukaku shot just before the half.

Liverpool sits at 13 points, 9 off the pace of Manchester City; while United equaled its best Premier League start after eight games with 20 points, 2 behind City.

Palace finally breaks the ice; downs Chelsea.

Crystal Palace exorcised some demons Saturday from their catastrophic start at the expense of the defending champions. A 641 minute league goal drought was ended by a deflection off of Chelsea defender; Cesar Azpilicueta, into the net on the 11th minute. Wilfred Zaha returned from injury and provided Palace a spark. His goal before the break was the game winner. Palace had to survive a 15 minute Chelsea barrage in the second half with key saves from backup goalkeeper; Julian Speroni, to preserve Palaces' 2-1 win.

Chelsea looks to be disjointed at times. Other than the 15 minutes of pressure they had on Palace in the second half, they really didn't look impressive. They are missing Alvaro Morata and N'Golo Kante. Victor Moses came off the pitch in the first half with a hamstring problem.

Chelsea sits in 5th; 9 points behind City.

Tottenham gets first league win at Wembley.

Christian Ericksons' goal at the start of the second half was all that Spurs needed against Bournemouth. Tottenham moves to 3rd in the table with 17 points.

Watford continues fine run; beats Arsenal, 2-1.

Arsenal boss; Arsene Wenger, disputed a penalty called on Hector Bellarin for barging over Richardison. Watfords' Tony Deeney potted the penalty kick to tie the game. Richardison is getting the reputation by some that he dives, and that is what he did to penalize Bellarin. Tom Cleverley knocked home the game winner two minutes into extra time. It's the third straight match that Watford scored in the 90th minute or later.

Watford is on its best top flight start ever. They are currently in fourth with 15 points.

City overwhelms Stoke; 7-2.

The league leading noisy neighbors dissolved another opponent. This side is clicking on all cylinders, scoring 29 times in eight matches. Its been 123 years since the last time anyone has seen that kind of prolific scoring pace in the English top flight.

Manchester Citys' engine is midfielder; Kevin De Bryne. His two assists against Stoke adds to his total of 32 assists since he joined City back in September, 2015; more than anyone in that time span.
