Premier League Post Bits.

Round 4 was another wild weekend of fixtures in the Premier League. Manchester United took a blemish to their perfect record, while their noisy neighbors were exceptionally boisterous. Chelsea is starting to march along winning their third straight. Controversy over the sending off of Sadio Mane and Jose Mourinho gets into yet another scrap with an opposing manager.

We'll touch a little bit on all of this in this past weekend's wrap up.

The Red Devils went into bet365 Stadium facing a seemingly always scrappy Stoke side. I figured United would finally concede and they did twice by Maxim Choupo-Moting. Cracks were revealed in United, especially in the central defending. Both goalkeepers made excellent saves in this match. Jack Butlands' save saved Stoke the point.

The Jose Mourinho soap opera entered a new chapter Saturday. Apparently, he was invading Mark Hughes' box and Hughes; in his fashion, told him where to go and what to do. Mourinho gave no handshake to Hughes after the match; doing his patented side step shimmy. What will Mou give us next?

I predicted a 2-1 United win; but it ended a 2-2 draw. Manchester United returns to the Champions League Tuesday to face Basel and host Everton Sunday. Stoke travels to Newcastle, Saturday.

It was by light years the worst day of Jurgen Klopp's tenure at Liverpool. The worst shutout loss for Liverpool since 1958 and the worst thumping the Citizens put on them since 1937. Sergio Arguero opened City's account in the 25th minute. About ten minutes later, Sadio Mane went after the ball in front of the net. Instead of striking the ball, he kicked City's goalkeeper; Ederson, in the face. Ederson was taken away by stretcher and any starch Liverpool had left in them left with him. Leroy Sane and Gabriel Jesus added two goals each tto complete the 5-0 rout.

Both clubs return to Champions League action Wednesday. Liverpool is at Sevilla and City goes to Feyenoord. Both have Premier League matches Saturday. City is at Watford and Liverpool hosts Burnley.

My pick was a 3-3 draw.

The Spurs go away from their temporary Wembley home to play their best match of the season at Goodison Park. Everton was one or two steps behind Tottenham all day in every facet of the match. They only managed one shot the entire day.

The calendar turns to September and Harry Kane starts filling nets. He added two goals, bookmarking Erickson's goal.

The Spurs face Dortmund; Wednesday, then have another home game with Swansea; Saturday.

Things don't get any easier for the Evertonians. They have an Europa League tilt at Atalanta; Thursday and go to Old Trafford; Sunday.

I had Tottenham winning 2-1.

Congratulations to Brighton Hove Albion for their first Premier League win ever. A 3-1 win over the other 'Albion'; West Bromwich.
