Rock Choke Jayhawk
Rock Choke Jayhawk (Our Ruined Dreams)
By: Ben Gage and Blade Nowland
Dedicated to: Mrs. Elder
I walked out the door
Tears streaming down my cheeks
I looked at the stars
I’ve been hoping for weeks and weeks
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
The stadium was eager
For an elite eight sweep
But instead all we got
Was to weep and weep and weep
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
The game was not close
Not close at all
We thought we could win
But we had a great fall
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined our dreams
My bracket was good
But not good enough
I was leading my group
But the results were quite rough
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
The Jayhawk in costume
Kept the crowd on their feet
But he too, started crying
When they got roasted, like meat
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined our dreams
Towards the end of the game
It got sorta close
But we lost the game
And we lost our throne
Cause the Oregon Ducks
Ruined our dreams
74 to 60
The numbers of defeat
That worthless coach, oh curse he
They were one of 8 teams, elite
And the Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
The cake that was colored
With bright red and blue
Was smashed to death
With rods of Bamboo
Cause the Oregon ducks
Ruined our dreams
Everyone went home
Crying very loudly
While I was picking up
Wailing very cowardly
Cause the Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
After the game
My living room erupted
With loud sobs
That weren't interrupted
Cause the Oregon Ducks
Ruined our dreams
So I’m here crying in bed
It is what is seems
Those dang Oregon Ducks
Ruined my dreams
That was a poem that me and my friend wrote to make fun of the Kansas Jayhawks' loss against Oregon. It may not have been as bad as the poem states, but it wasn't pretty for the Jayhawks.
If you didn't know, this was Oregon's first final four since '39. The ducks were ahead for most of the game. Kansas was basically dominating, beating every team they faced by at least 20 points, until of course, they face Oregon.
That was coming to the game, now here are the stats of the game. The leading scorer for Oregon, Tyler Dorsey, scored more than usual and he made more field goals than he averagely did. The leading scorer for Kansas, Frank Mason III scored less than he usually did and made less field goals than usual. Oregon dominated the first half leading by eleven at the end. In the second half, the score totals were closer, but Oregon still came out on top. Oregon leaded scoring percentages with a 50.9 field goal percentage and a 44.0 3-point percentage. So all in all, Oregon Dominated the court, and the scoreboard to win the game.
