I'M BACK

Between, The Bottom Line Sports Show weekends 10 on Sirius XM NBA Radio and ESPN NY 98.7 FM (Yes I know shameless plug, but who cares lol) I took some time off to relax. Now that the weather in the North East is doing its best to remind me that winter is coming and Ms. Renee Cooper is getting on my case, I figured it was time to get back to writing. I did not have to think too long to figure out what to write about, I mean the biggest story going into to the start of the NBA season will be “The King delivered the ring” and Kevin “If you can’t beat them, join them” Durant finding his way to the Golden St Warriors.  I was wondering if I was daydreaming but was dealt with a dose of reality when the newly acquired and often injured Derrick Rose began claiming the Knicks were also a super team (since Rose and Joaqim Noah joined Carmelo and KP).

This was the summer of insanity with the NBA doing their impression of the TV show “Who wants to be a Millionaire” Tyler Johnson to Allan Crabbe to Hassan Whiteside all got paid. But it wasn’t just the NBA, Jets journeyman quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick played an April Fool’s joke in July demanding the Jets sign him to a multiyear contract starting at 15 million per year.  The last time I checked the best thing about his game and career, was his lumberjack beard. All I can say right now is “ Hey Jets fans you still want to sign Fitzpatrick to a long term deal”? The entire country became divided when quarterback Collin Kaepernick simply decided to take a stand for the senseless violence against African Americans. So many people had an opinion on it, the hate for him really is an eye sore for this country.

The NFL ratings this season has been down, could  it be that the league is getting pay back for suspending Tom Brady for four games? The nationally televised games have been worth as much as the newest episodes of Real Housewives of Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop (and who wants to see that).  I think it is time for the NFL to start flexing games as soon as possible.  I am not sure I am ready to say that the league is in trouble, but the Minnesota Vikings, Oakland Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos  and  Dallas Cowboys have carried the league thus far. But don’t panic the league will bounce back once the playoffs roll around.

The summer also gave us the New York Yankees sending Alex Rodriguez away before the season was completed.  Such a sad way to end a career of a great player who decided to cheat the game and get caught. I’m sure he will regret that he didn’t get that gold pen from the Yankees.  Speaking of disappointments, I still feel a since of sadness on the tragic death of young talented pitcher Jose Fernandez. Whether or not you’re a baseball fan, or even a Marlins fan, we were all reminded how unpredictable life can be. This year’s World Series will finally end the misery of one fan base pain and extend the misery of another.  I Cannot believe that in less than two years, the city of Cleveland has gone from the “Mistake by the Lake” to possibly “Title Town”.

So people I’M BACK and ready to let my thoughts be known.
