Tim Kempton Getting it Done for Lehigh

I'm pretty sure the Lehigh Mountain Hawks basketball team will forever be remembered as the #15 seed that managed to take down #2 Duke. There is no denying that the win was an incredible upset against all odds. However, the Mountain Hawks did have the benefit of having C.J. McCollum, now a very good NBA player, on the team. While, Tim Kempton hasn't led the Mountain Hawks into the NCAA Tournament history books quite yet, he will no doubt go down as one of the best in program history.

One could already admire Kempton's skill simply by watching his first game this season. The Mountain Hawks were up against a Xavier team ranked 7th in the nation and were of course not favored. Nevertheless, Kempton put in his best efforts with 25 points and 7 rebounds as his team nearly shocked the Musketeers, and they ended up only losing by three points. This game essentially epitomized the season that Kempton is having at the moment, he is able to put in a huge contribution to each and every game, shown by the fact that he is averaging a double-double. It's no ordinary double-double that some centers attain. In fact, Kempton is averaging 21.7 points per game along with 10 rebounds.

Despite this being his senior season, Kempton has still continued to improve upon his game. Yes, the man who won the Patriot League MVP award in both the past two years is still getting better. He hit his highest point total of his entire NCAA career last night against American. Much to the delight of the home crowd in Bethlehem, Pennslyvania, he dropped 36 points along with 11 rebounds to lead his team to victory. He and his team will face a huge test next time out when they visit conference leaders Bucknell. They will need to rely on Kempton in order to be able to pull of a win against a talented Bison team. As for the rest of the season, the Mountain Hawks may already be out of the contention for a conference title, but still could win the conference tournament. In what would be his last NCAA Tournament, Kempton could possibly put on a C.J. McCollum-esque performance to earn the Mountain Hawks yet another famous tournament upset.
