College Football Eliminator 2016-17: Week 11

No teams were officially eliminated this week, but that's not to say my job was any easier this week. As I watched the #21 Florida Gators take down former head coach Will Muschamp and the South Carolina Gamecocks 20-7 on Senior Day, there was a huge shake-up in the race for the College Football Playoff. There are seventeen teams that mathematically have a chance to clinch their spot, nine of which I eliminated earlier on this season for losing twice. With teams dropping games like flies, it seems more and more likely that we will see a two-loss team in the playoff this year for the first time ever. Also, enjoy pictures from the past few seasons this week as I am not able to upload USA Today pictures for some reason. With that said, see where your team stands heading into the penultimate week of the regular season.

Could we see a rematch of the 2014 Sugar Bowl in a College Football Playoff game this year?

The Four Playoff Teams

#1 Alabama, #2 Ohio State, #5 Clemson, and #7 Washington are my top four. All of these teams seem to control their own destiny in their paths to the playoff. Alabama easily gets the #1 seed if they win out. Clemson and the Ohio State-Michigan winner get the #2 and #3 seeds if they win out. In my opinion, Washington gets the #4 seed if they win out instead of Louisville. The Cardinals are only given a 9% chance to win the conference by Nate Silver and the FiveThirtyEight crew. So Michigan is out after their upset loss to Iowa and Ohio State is in, although the real playoff participant is the winner of the Ohio State-Michigan game, which very well could go either way.

Thirteen days.

Outside Looking In

#4 Michigan, #3 Louisville, #10 West Virginia, and #14 Western Michigan are the first four out. Similar to last week, but Michigan and Louisville are making a much more serious push to finish in the final four than West Virginia and Western Michigan. The Wolverines are the only team that get into the playoff for sure if they win out. The other three need some things to go their way around the country for the rest of the season. On a side note, check out Louisville's Veteran's Day uniforms from Adidas.
