A Great Adventure [ VIDEO ]
What's up my people…
So a lot has been happening both on and off the court for us. 1) We now clinched the playoffs and we're locked in the 7th seed. Wow...even just writing that alone trips me out...I just got goosebumps. The ride I've been through these last 10 years of my pro career, to get here now out of all the years, it's liberating. That drought of me not making the playoffs in my career is officially OVER! It will be interesting and exciting to see who we play in the first round. Okay, had to get that off my chest...so more on what's been going on...2) we recently had a great team dinner that I hosted (more on that in my next post), 3) I have done a lot of really touching meet & greets with kids and adults affected by Alopecia Areata these last few days...shout out to Molly (see my last post) and Dr. Estrada, 4) I injured my thumb in the last home game against Phoenix (I think I'm fine now though), and 5) we had a really dope season ticket holder appreciation event at Six Flags Over Texas.
I have never witnessed any other organization in this league that shut down an entire theme park to allow their team and season subscribers to interact and bond…this was really cool. Check out the slideshow and video below...
The whole experience was cool, but I'm not gonna front…I am not a big fan of roller coasters whatsoever. It's not that I'm scared, I just don't like them. Okay maybe I'm a little scared lol. But check this out, my 6-year old, Elisa, was so FEARLESS. She wanted to get on everything, the higher the better. She went on a few adult roller coasters with my bro and my boy and she was the only one no where near scared. O'Boy…
I have said this before but life is a roller coaster. There are ups and downs. And sometimes it is scary. And even though I don't like roller coasters you gotta ride the roller coaster of life. This season has been one big roller coaster. Matter of fact, since I got here, from training camp, I have felt that way. You have to look at it from my perspective…I didn't know what to expect and in some cases I still don't.
BUT, and I said it to my guys at the team dinner, I truly appreciate being here. I appreciate how everyone has treated me with open arms. It has been "A Great Adventure" for me. And now we have the ultimate adventure…the NBA Playoffs and the quest for the NBA Title.
Someone asked me if I will be nervous since it is my first time in the playoffs and my answer was "No. I know how to play this game." That is the truth. More than anything I will be excited. Excited to have a chance to help my teammates/brothers and to seize the moment. This Great Adventure happens only once…it is on us to capitalize on every opportunity.
Good looking out to the Mavs for putting together a great event and again I am glad to be a part of this organization that I can now call my famila.
