Mama Knows Best
Hola what's up everyone…this is a late night post for me. But I had to take a minute to express myself and share my gratitude. Plus, I wanted to catch up a little bit, keep you posted with what's been going on.
I am pretty sure that most people didn't know that yesterday was Dominican Mother's Day. It's just like regular Mother's Day in the U.S. but it is celebrated the last Sunday of May. We do pretty much the same thing...a day in celebration, honoring your mother, showing your appreciation for motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of mothers in general. So I want to take a moment to let people know and show some love for all of those Dominican Mother's out there...from my own mom to my special grandma (that past way not too long ago) to my aunts, etc. And lets be real here...motherhood is a choice they make everyday, to put someone's happiness and well-being ahead of their own, it's crazy. So they truly deserve to be celebrated everyday of the year.
I don't know who knows my story, but I grew up with my moms, in Elmhurst Queens. She has always been a rock and inspiration to me…even till this day now. I am really appreciative of all mamas, especially mine, and I wanted people to realize, Dominican or not, respect and love your mom regardless of ANYTHING. It's not cause it's the right thing to do, but mama's do know best!
My mom always told me to eat my veggies. Not gonna lie, I HATE VEGGIES! I am not a big vegetable guy period. But as I mature in my career, I like things that can better the way I eat or diet. So okay...I have just started this crazy juice detox. It's kinda like the "Suja Juice 3 Day Fresh Start" program, but I did some research and did my own home version of detox diet & cleanse. Basically, it consumes of crazy raw vegetables, which again I HATE, fruit juice, which I like, and water, which everyone likes lol, but it's all for a short period of time. It is considered a rapid method of detoxification due to the reduced food intake and absence of solid food.
I used this as a guideline then set my own routine:
Here's some pics I just took right now:
It's been tough these last two days. And it's not like I get hungry like that but I do miss the flavors…this soup (in the pic) is all I got to look forward to with some type of flavor. The juices itself are disgusting. But I think it's also mental...mind over matter. It isn't so bad actually and in such a short period, I've already seen a tremendous weight loss and my body feels different, better. I want to be much more efficient in my wellness and better my body lean.
One of my boys asked me if I am cranky because of this diet and I had to think about that one, but nah I'm not. It is tough for sure but I am managing. I know if you stick to it, your body eventually gets used to it. I learned a lot throughout this short process…I learned to appreciate food ;) I learned hunger is a real thing. It's a blessing to have a plate of food daily in front of you and for that I'm thankful to God.
Anyways, I just wanted to share this with you guys. I'm not a health freak, but I'm starting to be more conscious of the things I put into my body and you should too. By the way, fast food is TERRIBLE, stay away.
More to come about where I will end up next season...free agency begins July 1.Stay connected.
Holla at your boy,
