Wild Wild West

Welcome to the WILD WILD WEST! You think the playoffs start next month? Guess again. Right now, for us, every game is a playoff game. We are currently tied with the Houston Rockets at the seventh spot in our conference, with the Utah Jazz breathing down our necks (just one game behind us). But we are also only a half game behind the Trail Blazers for the sixth seed, and we play them again tomorrow. This is going to be a wild race to the finish. But I must say, it felt good to pull out a win in overtime vs. the Blazers a few days ago. Thanks to Dirk's 40 points and Deron's 31 points and 16 assists, we managed to come out with a W. Dirk is the truth; he's our leader and he delivered. Big shouts to the rook, Salah Mejri, who came off the bench and contributed in a major way - six blocked shots! Damn...okay Salah! Now back to Dirk...

After just coming off this win, maaan, we got some BAD news today. This really sucks! We got the news of losing my brother Chandler Parsons (torn meniscus) for potentially the remainder of the season. This is a crushing blow. He is such an important piece to our puzzle of success. But he is tough and resilient, and I know he will come back from this even stronger! My prayers are with you, Chandler. God bless and good luck with the surgery and recovery, my brother. This team is definitely going to be facing some adversity without him, but we shall remain positive and always believe.

Our record this season against the top three seeds doesn’t mean a thing right now! Anything can happen from here to the playoffs, but we gotta take it one game at a time. This league is so balanced that anyone can beat anyone, anywhere on any given night. We have the will and belief that we can make a run just like anyone else. Our goal as a team right now is not to just get into the post-season, but we are chasing that six seed to put us in a better position. We know we have the right amount of depth and experience on this team. We have a resilient squad and one that is keeping a positive mindset pushing forward. We have the opportunity to make a big statement this week across the league. After our big overtime win at home against Portland, we now head to their home with an opportunity to take over the six seed in the West with a win. And then we're heading into Oracle Arena on Friday night to face the Champs. The road ahead won't be easy, but I believe in us. Stay tuned.

Also, before I wrap up, I want to send a shout out to my boys at UCONN! I’m proud of how you performed on the big stage against a team who many believe might win it all. You took care of business in Round 1 and you have nothing to hang your head about. The future is always bright in the land of the Huskies! Best of luck ahead to my UConn Nation.

Always appreciative,
