Dodgers News: Corey Seager Wins NL Silver Slugger at Shortstop

Rack 'em up, rookie.

Corey Seager, the Los Angeles Dodgers rookie sensation, took home the NL Silver Slugger award for shortstops on Thursday. This came a day after he was named NL Outstanding Rookie at the Players' Choice Awards.

Seager becomes the first Dodgers' shortstop to ever win the award and just the third rookie to do so, joining Fernando Valenzuela in 1981 and Mike Piazza in 1993. He finished the year leading all NL shortstops in batting average (.308), slugging percentage (.512), hits (193), runs (105) and doubles (40). He was second in home runs (26) and tied for third with 72 RBI.

The 22-year-old is also a finalist for the NL Rookie of the Year as well as the NL MVP, which will be announced next week.
