Pre-Champ Update.

It’s been awesome throwing some of these blogs up during the tournament. Hopefully I can continue to drop knowledge on a variety of sports and entertainment related avenues going forward and hopefully you have enjoyed putting up with my prose. This has been a pretty sick tourney. Some great upsets, some Final Four Cinderella’s, but ultimately we were given two 1 seeds in the final. Gonzaga and UNC. Two Monsters on opposite ends of America’s landscape.

NCAA Basketball: Final Four-South Carolina vs Gonzaga

Who am I cheering for tonight? The answer is I’m torn. I really am. On the one hand, several of my buddies have significant investments wrapped up in the success of Gonzaga via a Calcutta. (As a side note, the Masters down in Augusta is coming up this weekend and a good golf Calcutta is one of the best things around.) One of my best friends I believe wore Gonzaga underwear to work and will be naked wrapped in a Gonzaga flag for most of the evening. On the other hand, I have always been a UNC basketball fan at heart. The GOAT himself Mike Jordan, Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, the unforgettable Serge Zwikker, Dante Calabria’s incredible hair flow and his nine low top ankle injuries per season. I attended UNC basketball camp back in the day and actually won the Gotcha! Championship in the Dean Dome as one of my crowning achievements. There is history with me and UNC and I just don’t know what to do. Can I root for a tie? Can I be that dude that just roots for a good game? I don’t think there is any way the game this year can be as good as the game last year, but I think it should be a good one. Ultimately, my choice is going to be Gonzaga. I love you Tarheel Nation and I will be happy to see you and my man Roy W. take a title down but I have to show some loyalty here to my buddies who are on the Gonzaga train. That’s my public profession and I think honestly I will be pleased either way. As a politics major, I feel like I am really flexing my political muscle here trying to appeal to both fan bases and I don’t know how I feel about it. Regardless, get ready for an awesome game and the end to an awesome tournament.

Updates: I went to a place called Bounce Sporting Club in NYC to watch the games on Saturday and the place was an insane asylum. Pure Chaos and hilarious people watching. A vast majority of the crowd was turnt to the max and I respected the effort levels of those getting after it. As a basketball purist, was it the place to watch a game? No, no it was not, but it was fun for the time I was there before I moved on to quieter viewing pastures.

Song of the Week: “Backroad Song,” Granger Smith. This was my summer country jam last year and it’s about time to bring it back out as the sun has finally decided to shine in the Big Apple. You simply can’t listen to this song and not want to hang your hand out of a window and feel the wind flow through your fingers. Good stuff and good vibes.

TV Show Suggestion: “Brooklyn 99.” I’m a huge fan of Andy Samberg and the Lonely Island crew but this is his Little MiniSeries and it is incredible. You can watch a sample the next time you are on a Delta flight but I suggest watching every episode. I average 2-3 legitimate LOL’s per episode and that is a very good hit rate on comedy IMO. (Crushed it with the abbrev’s last sentence.)

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend and hopefully you win your brackets and didn’t listen to what I was suggesting. It’s been super fun throughout the tourney doing a little writing for you and feel free to reach out to me about anything going forward! I’ll check in this week with a review of the championship.

Good luck my friends and talk soon,

CJ Wallace
