Celebrity Debate Call Out: Colin Cowherd vs Skip Bayless in First Cramp Loses
A couple of weeks ago I put up a blog calling out Stephen A on behalf of Canada. In the parking lot before Wednesday night hoops, Dave "the Prof" Moreland complimented me on the article only to quickly point out a loss of respect because I listen to First Take. I am afraid the Prof will drop me a little lower after I confess to also listening to the Herd with Colin Cowherd.
In my defense, I am not really a fan of the Herd. Really, I would love it if ESPN put a different program during the lunch time slot. (I love it when Jonathan Coachman or SVP take over.) I find Mr. Cowherd abrasive and annoying. He takes calls and refers to his callers as idiots and morons. Don't forget, Colin has the ultimate advantage with people on the air. He can silence them when he feels like it, he can ignore their points when he does not want to face them, or even mock how the caller made the point. He loves the line, "You can change the channel" but there is nothing else on besides the Mike and Mike replay. He claims to keep it real but every time a celebrity guest comes on he interviews them like a homer. David Stern used to play him like a violin and Curt Schilling was delivered every question he wanted. I see nothing real about him and feel he is more contrived than anything else. You know, Howard Stern without the clever or funny.
Enter the topic of Lebron James and cramping in last night's game. Oh Colin let his listeners have it today. The idiots and morons who believed Lebron could have played through it were treated to mocking clown music. "How could you know what Lebron is going through? You haven't played pro sports! Division 3 is nothing; I could have played it if I wanted to." The paramedic who called in had no idea about hydrating and mentioning Patrice Burgeon playing with a punctured lung because it probably happened after the game. (According to Colin and his vast hockey knowledge.) Of course Bobby Baun scoring an overtime goal on a fractured ankle during the Stanley Cup finals in 1964 would have been a better hockey example.
Then I listen to First Take when I got home and Skip Bayless was all over Lebron. He was spouting the exact same garbage the callers to the Herd were spouting. I would love to hear Skip and Colin go at each other on this topic. My prediction, 1 round! Colin enters, Skip enters, Skip yells, Colin cowers, it's over! Please Mr. Bayless, just do this for all the frustrated ESPN fans who have very few listening options as they eat their lunch. It would be quick and painless for everyone but Colin Blowhard!
If you watch their Johnny Manziel interaction, you can see how polite Colin Cowtail is. Nothing real here! I bet his fans wish he would treat them so nicely.
