Know Your Hosts: Michael Wagenknecht

What's up listeners and readers?!?!?! This is Michael Wagenknecht, one of the hosts of Crunch Time beginning June 11th on ciaostl.com. Ahead of our inaugural show we wanted the chance for you to get to know us and why we LOVE sports.

I am a born and raised St. Louisian. The Cardinals and Blues are like food and water for me, I can get by without them for a short period of time but anything more then 3 days is almost calamitous. My first experience with sports was when I was just a few months old. My parents took me to a Cardinals game and a foul ball was hit near us. The security guard near my parents seats got the ball and gave it to them because I was such a good kid. I still have that ball.

For the Blues, my first real memory has to be Curtis Joseph versus Tim Cheveldae. Ken Wilson's voice during that moment is the first broadcaster I remember hearing and that call has stuck with me for years. I have been through the ups and downs with this team, not as long as true life long fans, but long enough to know what suffering is like. I still hold out hope that they will win a Stanley Cup in my lifetime.

My favorite players include Brett Hull, Albert Pujols, Alex Ovechkin, Ozzie Smith, Marcus Rashford, Alex Pietrangelo, Colton Parayko, Vladimir Tarasenko, Paul DeJong, Kurt Warner, Drew Brees, Alex Smith. I am not really that picky when it comes to favorites, truthfully any athlete is an inspiration to me.

A few favorite moments include US Soccer versus Algeria, Game 6 of the 2011 World Series, Winter Classic 2017, Blues vs Hawks 2016 playoffs, Rams 2000 Super Bowl victory.

What else do you want to know about me? Let me know and I will answer on air when we go live June 11th from 3-5 pm. Until then enjoy the ride.
