How does Wade joining the Rams affect the Broncos?

Wade Phillips has agreed to be the next defensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Rams. This news comes hours after the Rams have came to agreement with Sean McVay to be the next head coach.

Wade Phillips will now join a young, talented defense including Aaron Donald and veteran Robert Quinn and try to replicate his successes in Denver. With an uncertain approach to how the Rams will be ran under the youngest coach in NFL history, one thing for sure is that what Wade Phillips brings to the table cannot be denied and the Rams will come into the next season with high hopes to keep a young offense ran by Jared Goff in the game and by for a playoff appearance.

Switching gears to the Broncos, the hiring of Vance Joseph will put to rest the questioning on why he took over this team instead of Kyle Shanahan, when it was on file the Broncos offense could be best described as mediocre. Since the Broncos appearance to Super Bowl XVLIII, it was clear that in order to win at that level, an elite defense was needed. John Elway took full advantage of that and signed free agents Demarcus Ware, Aqib Talib, T.J. Ward, and Darian Stewart in the off season to add to Chris Harris jr. and Von Miller to create the elite defense the Broncos were looking for. Under the rein of Wade Phillips, the Broncos defense turned into one of the best in the league and arguably one of the best defensive teams of all time in 2015. Now that Wade is gone and all personnel is returning for the Broncos defense, it was key to keep the defense at a high level. Vance Joseph brings over experience coaching a solid defense in Miami as defensive coordinator where he had one of the best rushing defenses in the league, where in Denver, they were one of the worst in the league last year.

With the Broncos most likely going to hire Mike McCoy or Bill Musgrave as offensive coordinator and the lack of defensive coordinators on the market coincide with the amount of money Wade wanted from the organization; Vance Joseph brings defensive experience to a Super Bowl defense and the offensive side of the ball doesn't need a miracle, it just needs to increase a little bit for the Broncos to get back to the playoffs.
