Should I Stay Or Should I Go?

Melo Trimble has been the face of Maryland Basketball for the past three years and has come up big for the Terps time and time again. Now he faces a big question: NBA? Many thought he would declare for the draft at the end of the 2015-16 season, but after flirting with the NBA he wisely decided to return to College Park for his Junior year. Now that we're at the end of his Junior year, we have reached the decision every 22-year-old NBA prospect faces. I feel comfortable speaking for the entire student population of College Park when I say that I think he should stay for his Senior year, but is that the right choice for him? I would argue in favor of the students. Melo should stay. When he decided to come back after last season, he had something to prove to higher-ups in the NBA. I do not think he accomplished that this season. Yes, he showed everyone that he can be Mr. Clutch with big shots in the final moments of single digit games, but he only showed us one time this season that he can be a dominate force capable of taking over a game. In the first meeting between Maryland and Northwestern, Melo scored a season high 32 points and almost single-handedly took down the Wildcats. However, this was the only game throughout the season that Melo showed that dominant performance everyone is looking for. The rest of the season lest many fans wondering why he could not play like that every night. Personally, I think that Melo needs to take another year to improve the consistency of his shot and prove that he can be an influential player in a world where he will be compared to the likes of Stephen Curry, Russell Westbrook, and John Wall. All eyes will be on Melo over the next few months, but I feel confident #2 will be back at Maryland one more time.
