Best MLB and NBA Bets 8/21
Baseball Bets for Friday, August 21, 2020.
Yesterday, my bets went 3-1. That puts me at 6-7-1 now. My bonus NBA picks went 1-1, so NBA bets are 3-3 in the playoffs.
Here are my picks for today:
Kansas City Royals +135 vs the Minnesota Twins
Danny Duffy has won his last 2 starts, both against the Twins. The Twins have several injuries to key players, Josh Donaldson, Byron Buxton and Mitch Garver.
Milwaukee Brewers -139 vs the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates have been horrendous this year, with a record of 4-17. The Brewers just lost a series to the Twins, I expect them to bounce back with a win against the Pirates today.
Los Angeles Dodgers/Colorado Rockies over 9
These teams have combined to average 11 runs per game over their last 5 games. Walker Buehler and Jon Gray have both been disappointing. Expect both teams to score more than 5 runs.
Texas Rangers/Seattle Mariners over 9
Both of these teams are capable of lighting up the scoreboard. The starting pitchers combined ERA so far this season is almost 9. This should be a shootout.
Bonus NBA picks:
Toronto Raptors -10.5 against the Brooklyn Nets
The Raptors won game 1 in a blowout and game 2 was close. The Raptors will keep their gas on the pedal to win this series as soon as possible.
Denver Nuggets/Utah Jazz over 218.5
2 high scoring offenses who have struggled defensively so far in this series. Give me the over here.
Boston Celtics/Philadelphia 76ers over 216
The 76ers' defense has been terrible so far in the playoffs, the Celtics scored 128 and 109 in the first 2 games of this series. They have no answer for the wings of Boston, so they'll need to put up points to have any chance of keeping it close.
Boston Celtics -5 against the Philadelphia 76ers
Joel Embiid has been doing everything he can to help the 76ers win, but it hasn't been enough against the more talented Celtics. Jason Tatum has been torching the 76ers through 2 games. Without Ben Simmons, the 76ers don't have a perimeter defender who can stay in front of Tatum. The Celtics have blown out the 76ers in games 1 and 2, and game 3 shouldn't be any different.
Dallas Mavericks +5 vs the Los Angeles Clippers
Through 2 games, the Clippers haven't found an answer to Luka Doncic and the Mavericks offense. Through 2 games, Doncic has 70 points, 15 rebounds and 16 assists. In game 2, the role players for the Mavericks came up big when Luka got into foul trouble. Game 3 should be a close game with the Mavericks having a chance to win late.
