NBA and MLB Bets 8/30

Yesterday, my MLB picks went 3-2, putting me at 23-18-1 on the season. My NBA picks went 1-1-1, putting my picks at 12-9-1 in the playoffs.

Here are my MLB picks for today:

Chicago Cubs +136 vs the Cincinnati Reds

This should be a high scoring game, with neither pitcher playing well this season. In a high scoring game, I give the edge to their Cubs and their ability to put up runs. Also, the Cubs are 6-3 as underdogs and the Reds are 8-14 as a favorite.

Philadelphia Phillies -135 vs the Atlanta Braves

The Phillies are looking to sweep the Braves this weekend and have won 5 straight. Jake Arrieta started against the Braves earlier this season and went 6 scoreless innings. Huascar Ynoa has pitched twice against the Phillies and went a combined 4.1 innings with 2 earned runs.

Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 runs vs the Texas Rangers

The Dodgers offense has been humming as of late. Tony Gonsolin has pitched 3 starts and has yet to give up a run. For the Rangers, Kyle Gibson is 1-3 with an ERA of 5.73.

Houston Astros -104 vs the Oakland A's

After struggling to start the season, the Astros are hitting their stride, as they have won 4 of their last 5. Framber Valdez pitched against the A's earlier this season and gave up 1 run in 7 innings.

Kansas City Royals/Chicago White Sox over 10 runs

Both of these starting pitchers are really struggling and both of these offenses have been putting up runs lately. That's a combination for a high scoring game.

Here are my NBA picks for today:

Boston Celtics +2.5 vs the Toronto Raptors

Kyle Lowry is questionable for game 1, but I don't see him missing this game, he's as tough as they come. The Celtics still have too much talent and it'll show this series. This series will be a coming out party for Jayson Tatum.

Los Angeles Clippers -10.5 vs the Dallas Mavericks

The Mavericks have been good in this series, but their injuries are mounting up and are too much to compete with the Clippers. Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis, Tim Hardaway Jr., Dorian Finney-Smith, and Trey Burke are all listed as questionable. Even if they all play, they'll be limited. Clippers close out the series with a big win.
