Knicks Trade Hernangomez to Hornets

A day after their star center was ruled out for 10 months with a torn ACL, the New York Knicks have decided to trade center Willy Hernangomez to the Charlotte Hornets for Johnny O'Bryant for two second round picks. This move comes a day before the NBA trade deadline.

Even though the Knicks lost star center Kristaps Porzingis, this move does not come as a surprise. Hernangomez, 23, has been noticeably unhappy with his playing time and role on the team this year. He is averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds this season. These numbers are down from his 8.2 points and 7.0 rebounds that he averaged last season. Those numbers were good enough to earn Hernangomez an All-Rookie selection.

O'Bryant is averaging 4.8 points and 2.6 rebounds this season in a limited 10.5 minutes per game for the Hornets.
