Giants Week 7 Grades/Analysis

A week after the New York GIants racked up 435 yards of total offense, on Sunday the Giants were hoping for a repeat performance against the Los Angeles Rams in London. In the second game of the international series, the Giants survived what was yet another close game that came down to the last minute. The Giants slopped their way to a close 17-10 win, where the Defense won the game for the G-men. Let’s recap.

Offense: C-

The whole game, the offense was a major slopfest. From Eli Manning not getting a single passing touchdown, to Larry Donnell fumbling on the second play of the game. After an offensive onslaught they had against the Baltimore Ravens, the offense was only able to rack up 232 yards on Sunday. The running game that rushed for 34 yards on 18 rushes is an obvious problem. Rashad Jennings managed to get a TD on three straight running plays in the 4th quarter. Eli Manning managed to not turn the ball over which is the only good news to come out of the offense and how the offensive line did not allow a single sack.

Defense: A

The $200 million dollar defense proved to be the difference in why the Giants won today. Landon Collins had a masterpiece of a performance today with two interceptions, one of them he returned for a touchdown in what will be the play of the season for the Giants. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie also joined the fray by hauling in two interceptions of his own, including the game-ender. In what was without question their best performance of the season yet, the front four managed to get three sacks on Case Keenum with Jason Pierre-Paul getting 1.5 sacks of his own. Allowing 10 points causing 4 turnovers in the process is a major win and hopefully something to build upon.

Overall Assessment:

Now at 4-3, the Giants go on a much needed bye week. When they come back, they will have a three game homestand against the Eagles, Bengals, and Bears. Giants won’t go back on the road up until late November where they play against the Cleveland Browns. Also, this gives the Giants the perfect opportunity to fix some issues they have to get right including the running game. Also, Eli Manning is becoming almost a shell of himself and does not look the same. Whether it’s injury or if he’s getting older, may become a problem if Eli and the Giants can’t fix the issue. Either way, hopefully the G-men can figure it out before their Eagle game.
