Penguins looking for momentum

The Penguins are on a 2 game win streak. Finally, signs of life from the lethargic offense we have seen for 2 weeks.

The Penguins pulled off a shootout victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday night. The Penguins started out strong scoring 2 goals in the 1st period. It looked like the Penguins were on top of their game but managed to slip in the 2nd period by giving up 2 goals. The Penguins struggled to stay out of the penalty box again which forced them to consistently be on the defensive. The Penguins made it to the shootout round and beat the Sharks for the first time this season. It was a playoff atmosphere in the Console Energy Center and the Penguins remained resilient and were able to come out with a necessary win.

The season is coming down to the wire and the Penguins are trying to remain relevant in the playoff conversation. Their last 2 weeks have been painful to watch for fans because of their discipline issues and inabaility to stay out of penalty trouble. With the last 2 wins the Penguins have finally showed signs of life and it looks like they might be able to make the push to the playoffs.

Tongitht the Penguins are taking on their in state rivals the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers were eliminated from the playoffs on Sunday so they have nothing to lose in tonight's big rivalry game. Tonight's game is a must win for the Penguins so they can pick up momentum for the last 5 games of the regular season, one of which is at Philadelphia.

With the Flyers out of the playoffs they will most likely bring an edgier and more physical game tonight in an effort to rattle their opponents. In order for the Penguins to win they need to avoid getting sucked in to the cheap style of play and stay out of penatly trouble. If the Penguins can stick to their game and stay out of the box they should be able to pull off the win and continue their track to the playoffs.
