Within the past few days leading up to the 2017 NFL Draft, there have been many rumors swirling about the Ohio native, Mitchell Trubisky getting drafted by the Browns. Although it remains a possibility that Browns will select Trubisky with the 12th pick, it is unlikely that he will still be available. As a result of this, the Browns are considering trading up from their 12th pick in order to draft their future quarterback. Shockingly, they are reported to be considering drafting the North Carolina quarterback over Texas A&M defensive end, Myles Garrett. Regardless of where Trubisky is picked, it will be hard for him to become the franchise quarterback that Cleveland has been searching for over the past 20 years.

Although the Browns turned their offensive line into one of the best in the NFL it won't be enough to help Trubisky. For a quarterback to be successful it is essential that they have weapons around them. Unfortunately for the Browns' future quarterback their biggest weapon will be Corey Coleman, after the departure of Terrelle Pryor in free agency. Besides Coleman, someone who defensive coordinators will game plan against, the Browns have no playmakers who are above average at their positions.

Additionally, if Trubisky is drafted by the Browns he will almost certainly be the day 1 starter. With his lack of experience in college it will be hard for him to adjust to reading defensives, let alone defenses with much more complicated disguises and specialized blitz packages. What should make this transition even harder is due to the fact that he didn't set offensive line protections nor call audibles. When this is combined with a roster that needs help at almost every position it will make these challenges for any rookie quarterback insurmountable. If Trubisky is to succeed in the NFL it is essential that he doesn't start right away, allowing himself to adjust and adapt to learning the quarterback position at the next level.
