The Evil Empire Strikes Back......Again

If you hated the Yankees before, you are probably in a foul mode today. It’s official today that the Yankees have acquired Giancarlo Stanton from the Miami Marlins. The reigning NL MVP will now be in a lineup with the AL MVP runner up, Aaron Judge. Marlins president Derek Jeter traded away the biggest star of the organization for two low level prospects and 2B Starlin Castro. To me it seems that this situation with Stanton was mishandled. First of all, Stanton gave the Marlins a list of teams he would waive his no trade clause and then you (talking to you Derek) decide to try and negotiate deals with the San Francisco giants and the St. Louis cardinals, two teams not on stsntons list. Secondly, you get back a very so-so haul in return. Lastly you trade him to the team you starred for your entire career. The fans of Miami (the few of them there are) now feel that you have decided to rebuild their team while helping your old team. I also believe Jeter was wrong for not being at the winter meetings to explain his decision and what went into it. They say great players don’t make good coaches or executives most of the time and it seems Jeter is following that same road. The Marlin organization needs stability and it seems that the more things change the more they stay the same.
