College Football Playoffs Ranking

Today the College Football Playoff committee decided on the Final four teams to play for the College Football Championship. The four teams included are: 1.Alabama Crimson Tide 2. Clemson Tigers 3. Ohio State Buckeyes and 4. Washington Huskies. The two teams looking in but were excluded included 5. Penn State Nittany Lions and 6. Michigan Wolverines. The Big Ten was well represented in the Top 10 with four teams in Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The Pac-12 follow with three teams in the Top 10, Washington, USC, and Colorado, SEC with 2; Alabama and Oklahoma, then the ACC with Clemson.

There is no arguing the rankings because they are fair and just, except for one, Ohio State didn't play in the Big Ten Championship against the Wisconsin Badgers. Penn State had the honor of facing the Badgers, and winning the Big 10 Championship. Yet Ohio State is still in the College Football Playoffs. Alabama, Clemson, and Washington had to play for their respective Championships, but they still faced elimination especially if Washington lost to #8 Colorado, Alabama lost to #15 Florida, and Clemson losing to #23 Virginia Tech.

Penn State won the head to head against Ohio State in one of the biggest upsets in College Football history, and they won the Big 10 Championship, yet they were snuffed out of the College Playoffs. You can argue about strength of schedule, or their 2 losses to Ohio States one loss, but a team who loses the head to head to the conference champion should not be considered in the college football playoffs. Washington was on the border of not making it to the playoffs but they showed the committee they can hang with the best by decimating there opponents by large margins, and decimating Colorado in the Pac 12 Conference Championship.

For Clemson, not only did they decimate their conference rivals, they have a Heisman hopeful in quarterback Deshaun Watson, which shows not only they belong in elite company in the College Football Playoffs, but they have a program that has players exceeding expectations of most of College Football, with the exception of other heisman hopeful Louisville Quarterback Lamar Jackson. Let's face it though, if it were up to the general public to decide who makes it, it would be chaos. We will have to wait until January second to see the first two games to see if the committee was correct. Otherwise "Happy Bowl" Season
