Baseball World Mourns Young Cuban Pitcher

I switched on the t.v. today after coming home from church.

I turned the channel to FOX NFL Game Day.

Just before going to commercial, I saw a picture of Miami Marlin's pitcher, Jose Fernandez and underneath the photo it read 1992-2016.

I switched the t.v. over to a 24 hour news channel and was shocked to hear that Fernandez was killed earlier this morning in a boating accident in Miami Beach, Florida.

Fernandez was born July 31, 1992 in Santa Clara, Cuba.

Fernandez made his Major League Baseball debut in April of 2013 with the Marlins

In his short career, Fernandez had a win-loss record of 38-17, a 2.58 earned run average and struck out a total of 589 batters.

In respect of Fernandez's passing, today's Marlins/Atlanta Braves game has been cancelled.

Fernandez's last appearance in a Major League Baseball game was on September 20, 2016.
