It Took 71 Years, But the Cubs Did It

Optional...

It is been a long time coming, but the Chicago Cubs are going to the World Series after shutting out the Los Angeles Dodgers last night 5-0.

The last time the Cubs were in the World Series was in 1945.  71 years ago.

The world has changed since then.  Heck, there wasn't television to view the games.  You had to listen to it on the radio, be at the game, or read about the series in the newspaper.

Baseball insiders were predicting that L.A. was going to force the series into a seventh game because the Dodgers had their best pitcher on the mound last night.  Clayton Kershaw.

Unfortunately, even Kershaw wasn't capable to contain the Dodgers bats.  L.A. was hitting everything in sight.

As for the World Series, it is going to feature two teams that haven't won the title in decades.

Of course, we all know the Cubs haven't won the series since 1908.  As for the Cleveland Indians, I'm not quite sure, but I think the team hasn't won the title since 1948.

It'll be nice to see the Cubs or the Indians win because of the long wait.  Too long if you ask me.
