Fantasy Baseball: Draftkings Picks May 10th

With another Wednesday full of exciting MLB action, SCFE is here with our DraftKings Picks May 10th article. After reviewing the slate, what I love is how exciting the pitching options are. The pitching options I wrote about below are both high priced options, but both are very intriguing matchups. There are also a few other middle of the pack priced options that will give you more roster flexibility. With the hitting, I was able to find some cheaper options to target in the slate if you want to spend up on pitching. There are multiple directions to take lineups in this slate for where you spend your dollars. Hopefully these picks will give you the flexibility to mix and match multiple winning lineups.

DraftKings Picks May 10th

Pitchers

Chris Archer, TB vs KC ($10,800)

Of all the aces in the slate, Archer has the best matchup, and warrants strong starting consideration. Kansas City is severely struggling right now, as they rank dead last in every major batting category. Even though Kansas City has had success against Archer in the past, that was before this season. The fact of the matter is that the Royals can’t hit and Archer has been dominant this season. Look for Archer to be the most started pitcher in this slate, despite having the highest price tag.

Yu Darvish, TEX vs SD ($10,700)

Yes I understand that these two pitchers are the highest priced in the slate, but I like spending up on pitching today. Darvish has looked great all season, and gets a home game against a weak San Diego lineup. The Padres rank in the bottom third in the league in all major batting categories, and Darvish has been averaging over 21 Fantasy points per game. Paying up for starting pitching warrants strong consideration in today’s slate.

Other Pitchers I Like

  • Andrew Triggs, OAK vs LAA ($8,500)
  • Lance Lynn, STL @ MIA ($8,400)
  • Derek Holland, CWS vs MIN ($8,100)

Catchers

Buster Posey, SF @ NYM ($4,200)

Posey has been the one hot hitter on the Giants team, and is a smart start in this matchup. Buster has the matchup against the Mets fifth starter in Tommy Millone, an easy matchup for Buster. If you’re looking for a high ceiling pick at catcher, start Buster Posey.

Yadier Molina, STL @ MIA ($3,200)

If you know me, you know I love getting cheaper and consistent production from the catcher position in DFS. One of the kings of this is Yadier Molina, who hits for a good average in a decent lineup. If you’re looking for a cheaper option at catcher, Molina is a good bet to produce.

Other Catchers I Like

  • Brian McCann, HOU vs ATL ($3,500)

First Basemen

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI vs DET ($4,700)

With many other first basemen priced above $5,000, I love Goldy against a young lefty at home. Goldschmidt won’t break the bank, and also has a ton of upside in home tilts. I love Goldy’s value in this matchup, and recommend starting him in all DFS formats.

Matt Carpenter, STL @ MIA ($4,000)

After a slow start, Carpenter has been on fire, scoring at least sixteen fantasy points in each of his last four games. Carpenter has started to pick up this struggling offense, and his numbers will only get better when Piscotty comes back and Fowler gets going. For this cheaper price, Carpenter will provide good value in an appealing matchup.

Other First Basemen I Like

  • Jose Abreu, CWS vs MIN ($4,500)
  • Eric Thames, MIL vs BOS ($4,600)
  • Cody Bellinger, LAD vs PIT($3,900)

Second Basemen

Jose Altuve, HOU vs ATL ($5,300)

If you have the money to spend, I love paying up for Altuve in this slate. In his career against Jaime Garcia, Altuve is hitting .474 in 19 at-bats. Even though he has a high price tag, Altuve is a great bet to produce big in this matchup.

Dustin Pedroia, BOS @ MIL ($4,200)

Pedroia is an interesting play in this slate because of the ballpark and his hot streak. Over the last four games, Pedroia has averaged over fifteen Fantasy points per game on Draftkings. Considering this with the hitter friendly Milwaukee park, Pedroia is a good start in this slate.

Other Second Basemen I Like

  • Daniel Murphy, WAS vs BAL ($5,100)

Third Basemen

Justin Turner, LAD vs PIT ($3,800)

If you’re looking for a cheaper batter in the slate, Turner is a great bet to produce. This season, Turner is hitting .393, and even though the power isn’t there, the RBIs are. Considering the struggles by Chad Kuhl this season, Turner is a solid start in this slate.

Ryon Healy, OAK vs LAA ($3,700)

An interesting option here at third base in the slate is Ryon Healy, who has been hot lately. Over the last five games, Healy has three homers, and gets a good matchup against the Angels. Look for Healy to continue his hot streak against Jesse Chavez who has a 4.54 ERA this season.

Other Third Basemen

  • Kris Bryant, CHC @ COL ($5,700)
  • Travis Shaw, MIL vs BOS ($3,500)

Shortstops

Jean Segura, SEA @ PHI ($4,700)

Despite suffering an injury earlier in the season, Segura has stayed hot this year. Segura is hitting .363 this season, and has scored double digit fantasy points in each of his last six games. Look for Segura to continue producing at a high level in this matchup.

Chris Owings, ARI vs DET ($3,700)

Owings is another right handed batter I love targeting against lefties at home. So far this season, Owings is hitting .300 with 20 RBIs, and has been dominant at home. If you’re looking for a cheaper option at shortstop, Owings is a great start.

Other Shortstops I Like

  • Aledmys Diaz, STL @ MIA ($4,000)
  • Elvis Andrus, TEX vs SD ($3,800)

Outfielders

Andrew Benintendi, BOS @ MIL ($4,400)

The young Red Sox outfielder has looked great this season on offense. So far this season, Benintendi is hitting .325 with twenty RBIs, and has been hot as of late. Considering Benintendi’s hot streak, he’s a nice start that won’t break the bank in this slate.

Michael Conforto, NYM vs SF ($4,200)

Another interesting start in outfield in this slate is Conforto, who has been hitting well this season. Despite not starting consistently, Conforto is hitting .325 with 20 RBIs. With Matt Cain on the mound, Conforto is a great start in all lineups.

Other Outfielders

  • Melky Cabrera, CWS vs MIN ($4,000)
  • Nori Aoki, HOU vs ATL ($3,600)
  • Bryce Harper, WAS vs BAL ($5,600)
  • A.J. Pollock, ARI vs DET ($3,900)

After reading through the slate, you’ll realize the flexibility you have with DFS lineups. There are promising lineups for those who pay up for pitching or those who don’t. This is made true because of some great value picks at each position. Hopefully, this flexibility will help you make multiple lineups that will win money. If you’re going to start just one lineup, I recommend paying up at pitcher, and making value picks at each position. Best of luck to all you DFS players, go win some money today!
