Fantasy Baseball: Draftkings Picks May 3rd

With a full slate of MLB action, SCFE is here to help you set your DFS lineups with our Draftkings Picks May 3rd article. Today’s pitching slate is headlined by ace Jacob deGrom, but there are many other solid options to choose from. Carlos Carrasco has had a great season so far, and has a good matchup, as well as Marcus Stroman of Toronto.

With the hitting, there are numerous intriguing stacks to pick from in the slate. Considering the struggling of Kevin Gausman, Jeff Samardizija, and Mike Pelfrey, stacks of Boston, Los Angeles, and Kansas City hitters are all smart. Starting these stacks in multiple DFS lineups could put you in position to make good money. If you want to be more conservative and mix and match players, this article will help you as well. Best of luck to all DFS players out there, and go win some money!

Draftkings Picks May 3rd

Pitchers

Jacob DeGrom, NYM @ ATL ($10,400)

Headlining today’s pitching slate is the best healthy Mets pitcher in Jacob deGrom. deGrom has looked to have regain his 2014 form, as he has 44 strikeouts, a 2.84 ERA, and a 1.17 WHIP. Against the current Braves starters, deGrom has held them to hitting .227 in his career, while pitching extremely well against Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp. DeGrom is going to be in a lot of DFS lineups today, and should be in yours as well.

Julio Urias, LAD vs SF ($8,500)

Urias is a little tough to utilize for DFS, but lately any pitcher starting against the Giants has had success. Aside from the Giants struggling to hit this season, Urias has held the Giants lineup to a .227 average throughout his career. Urias is tough for DFS however because his innings may be limited. However with Samardizija on the mound, Urias should be able to pick up a win at home today.

Other Pitchers I Like

  • Carlos Carrasco, CLE @ DET ($10,700)
  • Marcus Stroman, TOR @ NYY ($10,000)
  • Gio Gonzalez, WAS vs ARI ($8,800)
  • Kendall Graveman, OAK @ MIN ($7,200)

Catchers

Yasmani Grandal, LAD vs SF ($3,200)

In a position that is as hard to get value out of as Catcher is, Grandal is an intriguing boom or bust option. Even though it’s a small sample size, Grandal is three for three against Samardizija in his career. Since I’m on board with a Dodgers stack today, Grandal for the cheap price is definitely worth starting.

Salvador Perez, KC vs CWS ($3,700)

Another intriguing stack today in Kansas City, as they have great history against Mike Pelfrey. Even though Perez just has okay history with Pelfrey, numerous other batters are hitting over .300 with many at-bats. In this case, I’m betting on the rest of the lineup to help Perez succeed with RBI and runs opportunities.

Other Catchers I Like

  • J.T. Realmuto, MIA @ TB ($3,300)

First Basemen

Paul Goldschmidt, ARI @ WAS ($4,900)

Even though Gio Gonzalez has been pitching very well season, Goldy is a great start today. Throughout his career against Gonzalez, Goldy is eight for twelve with three RBIs. If you’re looking to invest heavily in first base, Goldy is a great bet.

Jose Abreu, CWS @ KC ($4,300)

The White Sox first baseman has really been heating up as of late, as he has scored fifty-nine fantasy points in his last four games. Over his career, Abreu has hit Nathan Karns well, as over half of his hits are doubles. If you’re looking to save a little money at first base, Abreu has a lot of upside for his price.

Other First Basemen I Like

  • Eric Thames, STL vs MIL ($4,700)
  • Eric Hosmer, KC vs CWS ($3,800)

Second Basemen

Jose Altuve, HOU vs TEX ($5,000)

At second base, Altuve is one of the most consistent bets in DFS, and has a good matchup today against Nick Martinez. Over fourteen at-bats, Altuve is hitting .286 with no strikeouts, putting him in position to produce. If you’re looking to spend up at second base, Altuve is your best bet.

Dustin Pedroia, BOS vs BAL ($4,100)

Another stack I’m interested in today is Boston’s lineup against a struggling Kevin Gausman. Pedroia is a great option to start in this stack, as he is hitting .300 against Gausman in his career. Pedroia is a necessity in this Boston stack, as his lineup spot makes him a worthy investment.

Other Second Basemen I Like

  • Daniel Murphy, WAS vs ARI ($4,800)
  • Robinson Cano, SEA vs LAA ($4,200)
  • Yangervis Solarte, SD vs COL ($3,500)

Third Basemen

Manny Machado, BAL @ BOS ($4,900)

The Orioles star third baseman has been heating up as of late, and is a good start today. Even though he doesn’t have much history against Pomeranz, the former Padre hasn’t had a lot of success in the AL East. If you’re looking to spend up at third base, Machado is a versatile and good bet to produce.

Mike Moustakas, KC vs CWS ($3,700)

Another addition of a Kansas City stack, Moustakas has great history against Mike Pelfrey. Through fourteen at-bats, Moose is hitting .429 with five RBI and no strikeouts. For this cheap price and past production, Moose is definitely worth consideration at third base.

Other Third Basemen I Like

  • Miguel Sano, MIN vs OAK ($4,200)
  • Ryon Healy, OAK @ MIN ($3,400)

Shortstops

Xander Bogaerts, BOS vs BAL ($4,400)

Another important member of the Boston stack, Bogaerts’ value has shot up as he is hitting atop the lineup. Through 29 at-bats, Bogaerts is hitting .276 with a .610 OPS against Gausman. Considering Bogaerts’ consistent production and Gausman’s struggles as of late, Bogaerts is a solid start today.

Corey Seager, LAD vs SF ($4,200)

Samardizija has gotten off to a poor start this season, and I expect this to continue in Los Angeles today. Even though Seager doesn’t have a lot of history against Samardizija, Seager’s numbers this season have been great. If you’re looking for a solid bet at short, look no further than Seager.

Other Shortstops I Like

  • Alcides Escobar, KC vs CWS ($3,400)
  • Elvis Andrus, TEX @ HOU ($3,800)
  • Didi Gregorious, NYY vs TOR ($3,400)

Outfielders

Lorenzo Cain, KC vs CWS ($3,900)

Pairing Cain with Moose today is a very intriguing Royals stack, as both hitters love Mike Pelfrey. Throughout his career, Cain is eight of sixteen with five RBIs against Pelfrey. Even though the Royals haven’t had a hot start to the season, I like them to score runs today.

Mookie Betts, BOS vs BAL ($5,200)

As it starts to get warmer, Boston’s lineup will start heating up (no pun intended). Like Bogaerts, Betts also has great history against Gausman, as he’s hitting .435 against the Oriole in 23 at-bats. Considering these numbers and Gausman’s struggles, Betts is a great outfield option today in DFS.

Other Outfielders I Like

  • Alex Gordon, KC vs CWS ($3,600)
  • Andrew Benintendi, BOS vs BAL (3,800)
  • George Springer, HOU vs TEX ($4,700)
  • Khris Davis, OAK @ MIN ($4,100)
