The Hats Were Flying

Down a goal with five minutes left, the Philadelphia Flyers took advantage of the Dallas Stars penalties to push there winning streak to eight.

Today, Brayden Schenn, put up three points on the board to get his second career hat trick. Schenn came through at just the right time to extend the win streak another day.

With the Flyers trailing 2-1 with five minutes left, Schenn was the one who tied and then scored the game-winning goal on the man-advantage, giving the Flyers a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars.

The Flyers weathered a first period that was not their finest, with Dallas controlling most of the twenty minutes, Jakub Voracek netted one in to close out the period all tied at 1.

As the second period progressed, the game was getting slow, with each team struggling to do much in terms of sustained offensive zone pressure.

Then, with twelve minutes left in the game, things took a dramatic turn. A holding penalty on Gudas, Dallas was able to score on the power-play. Then, with some penalties on Dallas, Schenn went one, two, three. The Flyers were up 4-2 to close out the game and win there eighth straight game for the first time since 2002.

Yes, 2002.

Hoping to extend their win streak to nine, the Philadelphia Flyers fly out to Detroit tonight to take on the Red Wings tomorrow evening (5 pm EST).
