The Premier League is already over halfway through the season, and punters already feel they know who is going to win it, but with plenty of games left to play, anything can happen and there are still plenty of teams in with a chance of winning it. Below we’ll make our predictions on how we think the top 6 of the table will look come the end of the season.
It’s quite clear that Chelsea currently have the added advantage of being the leaders, but with some tough games ahead of them, it’s still not guaranteed they will win it. When you do have a look at their fixture list when compared with some of their title chasing rivals though, it’s clear they can come out on top when it comes to the end of the season. Brilliant form under Antonio Conte and great individual performances from the likes of Diego Costa, David Luiz, Eden Hazard, and many more have ensured Chelsea remain strong favourites in winning the title.
Tottenham have really stepped up their game since losing 1-0 to Manchester United a couple of months back, and beating the likes of Chelsea has really given them the desire to push on and compete with the league leaders. Tottenham are currently the in-form team and if they can continue winning games, there is no reason why they can’t finish in second place to make them runners up with guaranteed Champions League football next season.
Arsenal had a slight blip in December/January, but have since come back and won a couple of games which has eased the pressure on Arsene Wenger. If Arsenal can keep Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Olivier Giroud fit between now and the end of the season, they should be able to book their place in the Champions League next season with their London rivals Tottenham and Chelsea.
4. Manchester United
Manchester United aren’t in the top 4 currently, and it could be some weeks before they are able to get there, but if they keep on improving under Jose Mourinho then they will have a strong chance of getting in the top 4 this season. Manchester United are still in the Europa League, so if they win that they will get the chance to play Champions League football next season anyway, but a top 4 finish would be what the fans, the manager, and the team have their eyes on.
Liverpool look like a completely different opposition this season under Jurgen Klopp, and drawing with Manchester United at Old Trafford recently has managed to keep them in the top 4 for Champions League football next season. The problem Liverpool have at the moment is that their defence is still letting in goals, and even though they are scoring plenty of goals, it could come back and bite them as the season goes on. This is why we think Liverpool might struggle as the season goes on, and seeing as they have a tough fixture list ahead, we don’t think they will be in the top 4 come the end of the season, but they will have Europa League football if they stay above Manchester City.
6. Manchester City
This is a prediction that is very hard to make, because with the quality Manchester City has in terms of players and manager, they should really be top of the league by some distance. It’s not all going Pep Guardiola’s way though, and this is why we think they might struggle between now and the end of the season, and Pep could even get the sack much earlier than people expected.
