English sporting Duo

Hi sports fans! This is another post from your blogger Hari. Today I will be writing about the three English games that happened a few days ago. England VS Australia (cricket) and England VS Ireland (rugby).

The game I am going to talk about first was between England and the Aussies. The game started at 11.30 with England winning the toss and choosing to field first. Well England got of to a great start restricting Australia to 18-1 (since Warner was retired hurt) in 5 overs. Then Australians game got better with Smith scoring 70 and Baileys quick 54 helped recover them to 220 in 40 overs. After the partership broke the were still high scorers for the Aussies like Maxwell, Watson and Marsh all scoring above 30 each carrying the Aussies to 309-7. The highest wicket taker was Ben Stokes with stats of 3-60. Then it was Englands turn to bat needing just over 6 runs per over.

England got of to a got start with 80 runs just after the ten over mark. After a few wickets fell Morgan came in an scored 85 of 77 balls. The bizarre decision of the day though was Ben Stokes was given out for obstruction of the wickets putting his hand in the way of the stumps. The final decision was out but everyone else disagreed saying that he was trying to protect himself. Personally I think that it was not out and that the third umpire made an incorrect decision and that a complaint should be made. After that incident England fell apart and all started 2 balls later when Jos Buttler was dismissed for 1. They eventually carried on until they were bowled out for 245 losing by a big 64 runs. England now need to win the next 3 games in the series to win the royal London cup.

Across town whilst the cricket was being played the England rugby team were entertaining Ireland in there back yard in Twickenham. It was there last warm up before the rugby world cup that is hosted in England and Wales. It got of to a good start for the English men with May and Watson both scoring tries to give England the lead of 12-3 only 15 minutes in. This score stayed the same until half time. Shortly after the break George Ford scores a penalty that was awarded to England making the scoreline 15-3 England. Then England thought the game was in the bag but they were wrong, Ireland had started to push forward getting a try followed by a successful conversion by Jonny Sexton. Then shortly afterIreland get a penalty that was scored making the score 15-13 England. Ireland sneaking in to taking over but were stopped by England because George Ford scored a try and penalty making the score 21-13 to England with the game wrapped up. ten minutes later the game finished giving England the win. England have now taken revenge off Ireland of the Six Nations Trophy and head in to the world cup on a win. There first game is against Fiji on September 18th.
