Liverpool Injury problems Continue To Worsen

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was forced to admit that he may have to look at defenders and strikers in the transfer market after the club's injury problems worsened during their League Cup semi-final first-leg win at Stoke. The first half at the Britannia saw Dejan Lovren and Philippe Coutinho leave the pitch in agony both suffering from a hamstring injury. Just before the end of the fixture Kolo Toure came off with what appeared like the same injury that Lovren and Coutinho suffered earlier that match.

Before the window opened, in a press conference he said that it would not be necessary for the team to buy any defenders or defensive midfielders because he had many options to choose from. But after yesterdays game he said we might have to spend some money on defenders in the next three weeks of the window. Liverpool have no fit central defenders with Toure,Sakho,Lovren and Skrtel are all out with injuries. Lucas had to fill in Lovrens play early in the first half at the Britannia. Klopp said "just three weeks ago we had four centre backs, which was a good situation, and at the start of the season we had six - but now we have zero?" He added 'It's a strange feeling because on one side it's very good but then all of a sudden we suffer from these terrible injuries."

Adding to these defensive injuries, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Jordan Rossiter are also suffering injury blows. He said "I've seen it at some clubs before. Perhaps it's down to the change in training methods. Under Jurgen Klopp they'll train much harder day in, day out." Klopp said "there is no training to stop these injuries,i guess it's just bad luck" He added "I have done so many fitness workouts and exercises with the team but there are still consistent injuries."

So the Reds are another step closer to the League Cup final but if there players don't recover soon enough they might go on a possible losing streak.
