In today's post, I will be covering the main event from Sunday's two fixtures, the Manchester Derby. It was an early start on a rainy morning at the Eithad, with the hosts looking likely to come out on top. The first half consisted of end to end attacking football. The game lived up to the hype on the aggressive front, with Chris Smalling sent off for United in the thirty-ninth minute for another rash challenge, earning himself a second yellow.
In the second half, United sat back and attempted to see the game out with ten men. Man City continued to press the depleted United backline and won a penalty in the 63rd minute. Agüero cooly converted the penalty to bag his 11th goal in 12 games which continued his fantastic form so far this season. The final score ended 1-0 with the home team securing a vital 3 points.
Across the country in North London, Tottenham saw off a defensive Astonvilla side with a comfortable 2-1 win.
